Catchin' Up

This weekend was a fun weekend of catching up with best friends. I have some of the greatest friends ever and since we all graduated it has been harder to get together and hang out. It's sad that we can't be together acting stupid all the time like we used to. But- it does make it fun to catch up and see eachother when we are able to.

On Friday night I  met one of my best friends Casey at my sisters soccer game. We spent the entire game laughing and catching up... I hardly paid attention to the game (sorry Abby). It was a blow out though (they won like 6-1) so I didn't miss much. Casey has been one of my best friends fo years now. We became close in High School playing soccer together and then carried on our love at Ole Miss together. When we are together we just laugh hysterically for no reason. I'm talking tears rolling down the face-abs hurting the next day laughter FOR NO REASON. I don't know why but we find eachother very entertaining and funny. Casey moved to Denver about a year ago and I was only able to get out there and see her once. She's back now and I love it!!!!!!!!

Friday night 4 of us went to dinner at Chepes -my new unhealthy mexican obsession. We got some HUGE beers and laughed, caught up, and stuffed our faces.

On Saturday night one of my other best friends Kelley came back into town. Kelley has been my roommate and favorite person ever all through college (See one of my earlier posts about her to understand my true obsession). She recently moved to Mississippi and I miss her like crazy. She came into town and we got dressed up to go out for our friend's birthday. We had to wait for my boyfriend (weird to say) to get off work. SOOO in the mean time Katie, Kelley, and I spent about 2 hours catching up, drinking some drannnks, and laughing hysterically. By the time he got there its safe to say we were super giggly, hyper, and a little tipsy. He's such a trooper and drove us downtown where we met up with all our friends. Ps- it monsooned all night long so we got creative with trash bags. Funn! ha

Sunday was fun because I got to play tennis with one of my other best friends Allie. Allie is one of my best friends from college and I love her so much. We are in the process of looking for apartments in Atlanta together so hopefully soon she'll become my roomie! It's also nice because our boyfriends are bestest buds also (we're concerned they are more like lovers though). Allie and I played the longest match in the world and ended up losing. We'll get them next week though.

Then I finished off the rest of my Sunday and weekend by spending the afternoon/evening with the BF and my family.

It was a good weekend and I can't wait for this upcoming weekend to get here.

Quote:"Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose."
              -Tennesse Williams

I'm trying to finish up this 30 day Blog Challenge... so this post has a few days worth in it.

Day 26: Your first concert....

My first concert ever was Mariah Carey. My best friend, Katie, and I went when we were in 6th grade. Oh and of course both of our moms came too! It was a funny first concert that I will always remember. We got the cheapest tickets so we were up in the nosebleeds and could hardly see the stage. On top of that Mariah got food poisoning the day before and had been sick all night. She powered through it but you could tell she was sick and she kept having to stop and replenish herself by chugging Gatorades the whole time. Then Katie fell asleep in her mom's lap mid-concert. HAHA

Needless to say it was a great memory and since that concert there have been many more in my life that have been way more fun! Perhaps not as memorable though... gotta love good ole' Mariah Carey!

Day 27: A picture of something you wish you could forget....

I wish I could forget the time I was attacked by a family of jellyfish. I dove into the pile of them while trying to catch a football in Hilton Head one summer. I got stung by a bunch of them at once all up my right leg, side, and arm. Then it got infected and I had to go to the hospital a few days later. It took the pigment out of my arm and leg for a long time also.

To this day I am still TERRIFIED of the ocean. I'll go in if I'm floating on something, on someone's back, or being carried. I like going to the beach but the actual water/swimming part is still a little tramatic for me.

Day 28: Where do you picture yourself in five years...

Ever since I was little I always thought that I would meet my boyfriend in college, be engaged right after we graduated, and then get married a few years later. BOY was is WRONG. ha. Not only did I not meet a boyfriend in college...I hardly even dated. Oh well, life happens how it's supposed to I suppose!

There's this saying that if you want to hear God laugh tell him your plans- so true. You can't plan for the future. I mean you can to some extent but when it comes to love, relationships, and stuff like that you just have to hand it over to the Big Guy and enjoy the ride. When I graduated-and for a few months after- I struggled to enjoy the ride. I freaked out and thought I had to plan everything for my future and had to get my life started right away. This was a time in my life when I was not a happy camper and I was constantly filled with panic and anxiety.

Right after Christmas this year I had a melt down and decided that I needed to knock it off and be happy. SO I woke up and decided that right then and there I was going to change my attitude and outlook on my life. Who cares that I'm 23 and don't know what I want or am doing with my's perfectly normal. Who cares that I wasn't in a relationship and no where near being married. Who cares that I don't have my "dream job"...most recent graduates don't and at least I have a job. I realized I just needed to count my blessings and try to be more positive.

SO I changed my attitude, my outlook, my everyday habits, and I started dating a little. I was in a rut and I needed to get out. And it worked! It's amazing how helpful a positive attitude, a clear head, and a big deep breath can be! I'm as happy as a clam now and although I still feel clueless about my life I'm content and at peace with that.

Moral of this post is that I HAVE NO CLUE WHERE I WILL BE IN 5 YEARS. I can't even see myself anywhere yet and that's fine because I'm enjoying the ride there. What I hope is that I'm happy, healthy, and in a good place. I'm confident that I will be and to the Big Man all I have to say is BRING IT ON!!

Day 25

Quote: "Only your real friends tell you when your face is dirty." -unknown

I haven't posted in awhile- my bad for anyone who is following (this means only you Kelley ha).

I've been super busy lately. It's been good busy but busy none the less. I've had work, tennis, St. Patty's day, met the bf's parents, car died **3 times**, basketball, beautiful weather to play in, etc.

Also I am ready for this 30 day challenge thing to be over.. it's starting to annoy me really ha.

AND I missed day 18 so the whole count will be off. Whoops, I never was good with numbers.

Anyway...only a few more days of this blog challenge. So here goes...

Day 25: Your favorite piece of clothing...

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love love love my Converse Chuck Taylors. I think they are so cute. I like to wear them with anything and everything. I'm not a little skater chick or anything but I really love these shoes. Basically I just wear whatever I like at the time so I don't really think I have a style. You couldn't really pin point me as preppy, grunge, hippy, or anything. I kinda wear a little of each style. It's obvious that I'm no slave to fashion nor do I have any fashion sense at all. Most of the time you'll find me in jeans and a tshirt or athletic shorts/pants and a tshirt. And most of the time you'll find me kickin' it in my Chucks.

It may be time to invest in a new pair because I've pretty much worn mine down and they are getting grungy. Luckily I can fit in a little boy size shoe so it's like $20-$30 bucks cheaper for when I go any buy a new pair. I can't decide if I want to get black again or get a whole other color. We shall see.

Gotta love those little Chuckers.

Day 24

Quote: "The love of a family is life's greatest blessing." -unknown

Day 24: Something you wish you could change...

I wish I could change how far away from our family we live. It was wonderful growing up in Chicago and being to close to cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. We got to see them almost everyday. Once we moved down to Georgia that all changed and I miss it. We are blessed to still get to see them all a few times every year but I am always jealous of people who can see their family any day they want.

**The Lutzenkirchen side of the family at our lakehouse this past summer for G&G's 50th wedding anniversary.

** The Skolak-Meier side of the family 2 summers ago in Door County for Howie's 80th birthday celebration. Man is he ollllld! Still runs 4 miles a day though. (Not pictured-Dad and Philip)

Basically I have the best and most supportive family in the world and I wish we lived a little closer. When I grow up and start raising my own family I really hope I am blessed enough to be close to my siblings and parents. Family is so important to me. I love the whole fam-damily.

Lub chu all.

Day 23

Quote: "Easter spells out beauty, the rare beauty of new life." -S.D. Gordon

Day 23: Your favorite holiday...

My favorite holiday is Easter-which is coming up so soon!! woo. I really love Easter for a few reasons...

1) The spring weather makes me happy.

2) I love dying Easter eggs with my siblings -lately they have gotten a little rauncy though. Mom doesn't like this but we think it's funny to draw inappropriate things with the white crayons that appear once they are dyed. ha

3) I love having an Easter meal together with family and friends. Great food and company always makes me happy.

4) The religious aspect of this holiday is beautiful to me every year.

5) It's not CHRISTMAS!! If you know me you know how much I don't like Christmas- I know bah hum bah I'm scrooge.

6) Mom still makes us little Easter baskets- she no longer hides them though.

7) All of us are home together for at least one day which is nice.

- Barbara de Angelis

Day 23: A picture that always makes you smile...

I have so many pictures that make me smile and laugh because- let's be serious- my life is exciting, funny, and awesome ALL the time. Ha not. But right now a picture that has me smiling non-stop is this one..

I came back from working out at the gym during lunch yesterday to find these on my desk. I have never ever been given flowers- from anyone but my parents. A very special man made me very happy yesterday by surprising me with these pretty things. Every time I look at them or this picture a smile spreads across my face. The best part is that he did it for no reason other than to thank me for a wonderful weekend. He may be a keeper this one.

PS- I promise to avoid having sappy posts like this again. GAG. haha

Day 22

Day 22: Something you are afraid of....

I am absolutely terrified of 2 things. Both of these fears are completely irrational and I hate that I am so afraid but I totally am.

Needles- I tend to start hyperventilating and pass out whenever I have to get a shot or even a finger prick. It is so mortifying and embarrassing. I don't know why this happens because shots and finger pricks do not even hurt. Hopefully this is something I will get over but so far this doesn't seem promising.

Roaches- Everytime I see a roach I freak out. I suck in a deep breath and feel like I can't breath. They are terrifying to me. I'm not sure why because they can't hurt me but something about them makes me so scared. I can't kill them and if I see on in a room I will stay out of that room for weeks. Unless someone comes and kills it and proves it is no longer in the room. They are awful creatures and I hate them so much. I would rather have a snake or a rat in my room than a roach.

Like I said- neither of these fears are rational in the least but it is what it is I guess! ha

Day 21

Quote: "Animals are such agreeable friends-they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms."
                -George Eliot

Day 21: My favorite animal...

If anyone knows me they know that I am OBSESSED with animals. Almost border line weirdly obsessed. I love all types of animals and I wish I could have a zoo at my house. I'm well on my way to creating my own zoo too (jk). Humans are cool but for the most part we are all the same. The thing I LOVE about animals is how many different types there are and how different they all are. Animals fascinate and amaze me to no end.

I always play a game with people and make them pick what type of animal they would be if they could be any kind. I would be a kangaroo no doubt. The are fast, can hop, have pouches that hide their nipples & babies, can box, have huge strong legs and tails... I could go on about why they are cool forever.

Another animal I really like is a hedgehog. I recently got my own baby hedgie- I know it's weird but I don't care. His name is Reggie the Hedgie. He's great... not a very friendly little fellow but I'm sure if you asked him he'd say he loves me.

I also love turtles. I have a little turtle named Turt. I made my friend hold him all the way home from NYC- 17 hours. HA He's a cute little guy and I love him. He looks like a grumpy little old man. He's really small and cute.

And I of course love my dogs more than anything. I am definately a dog person and hope that I always am blessed throughout life with dogs that are as awesome as my 2 are now.

Well now that everyone know's I'm an animal lover and kind of a freak I'm out. Peace out.

Birthday Shout out

Quote: "Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending." -Maria Robinson

Twenty three years ago today the world was blessed with a little angel named Kelley. She was probably a cute baby however she quickly grew into an awkward child. It is true- she had a mullet. She rocked that little mullet for all it was worth though. However, I blame her mother for the poor hair decision not her. ** I, on the otherhand can't really judge because I myself chose to have a bowl cut."**

Anyway- Kelley is one of the greatest people in the world and has made a huge impact on my life. It's crazy to me that we went from hardly knowing eachother in high school -me thinking she was annoying because I thought she was trying to steal my friend- to being best friends ourselves. I wouldn't have made it through college without her there to keep me me grounded and sane. (Well at times we were a little insane together!)

Even though we live in different states right now I know our relationship will continue to grow and change. I can't wait to see all the weird crap we get ourselves into in the future.

Cheers to you baby squirrel! I love you!

Day 20

Quote: "Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance."

Day 20: Something you wish you were better at...

I wish I was better at running. I used to be able to run and was actually pretty fast. But for some reason I developed shin splints and now if I run more than a mile and a half straight I can hardly stand up. I wish I could run again because I really am sick of doing the elliptical everyday at the gym! But at least I am able to do that still. If my dumb shin splints would go away I would like to start running races and marathons. Shins splints have been causing me problems for a little over 6 years now though so it may just be ellipticals for the rest of my life.  Oh well at least I can still do cardio somehow.

Don't get me wrong though... I'll still kick your butt in a sprint race. ha

Day 19

Day 19: A picture of your favorite book...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to read so I have alot of favorite books. I recently got a Kindle and I am obsessed with it. I will not put it down! If you don't have one I would highly reccommend getting one. It's the greatest thing ever!

A few of my favorite books are:

These are just a few of my favorites. I have way too many more to mention.

Day 17

Quote: "Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it."
 -Mother Teresa

Day 17: A picture of your most treasured item...

I don't know what my most treasured item is really. I guess if there was a fire in my house and I had to get out and only grab a few things I would pick my dogs. I don't know if they count as "treasured items" but I know I treasure them ha.

To me items and things can be replaced so although there are alot of items I love and enjoy they are just things. If I lost them that would stink but it wouldn't be life changing or devestating. I don't know what I would do without my dogs. They are spoiled and stinky but I love them so much.

The pictures above crack me up because we were taking pictures in our Easter outfits and decided the dogs needed to have a photo shoot too. We put flowers on their necks and called them Senoritas all day haha. They didn't seem to thrilled about it but we sure were.

Day 16

Quote: "The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me." - Ayn Rand

Day 16: Something that has made a huge impact on your life...

The thing that has made the biggest impact on my life recently has been graduating from UGA and getting a real job. It was a tough transition for me because I wasn't expecting to get a job only 2 weeks after I graduated. So much for having a summer to just hang out and figure out what I want to do with my life.  Graduating and getting a job with Yardi has made the biggest impact on my life as of late because I moved away from Athens and came home. It's been a good thing but definately was a huge change for my everyday life.

Day 15

Quote: "I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells." - Dr. Seuss

Day 15: A picture of someone who inspires you...

My sister Ann is someone who inspires me. She always likes to make the people around her happy and if they aren't happy she isn't happy. She's had a tough couple of years health wise and she's really done great. If I was dealing with the stuff she has to I can't say that I'd always be as positive as she has. Yes she gets down sometimes like the rest of us but for the most part she just knows shes gotta suck it up and roll with it. She has done some pretty impressive things in her 21 years on this earth and I know she'll do many more!

And- shes pretty funny. As you can tell by this picture of her in a denim jumper and an afro.

Day 14

Quote: "Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect."
-Mark Twain

Day 14: The top 3 songs you love listening to...

One of my all time favorite songs EVER is Michael Jackson's PYT. In college I used to request it every time we went to 8es Bar.

Although I'm sure most people will make fun of me for this I really love Jesse McCarney's Body Language. I can't help it it's fun to jam out to.

And I'm sure this makes me look like a tool also but I LOVE LOVE LOVE listening to the songs from GLEE!!! I don't even care what anyone says their songs make me so happy. I love when they do mash ups of 2 different songs!
